Public Records

Citizens can request public records from the City of Fort Smith by submitting a FOIA request. Public records include any writings or recordings made by public employees (with some exceptions).

What is FOIA?

  • FOIA stands for the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act
  • The law gives Arkansans access to public records and public meetings
  • Citizens may request records from Arkansas government entities, and records include anything maintained by public employees within the scope of their employment
