Sewer Rate Increases

In February 2025, the City of Fort Smith Board of Directors approved annual 3.5% sewer rate increases for 2025 through 2030. The 2026 increase became effective on January 1.

These adjustments help support ongoing maintenance, improvements, and long-term sustainability of the City of Fort Smith’s sanitary sewer system.

How much will my bill increase?

Approved increases are 3.5% annually (2025 - 2030) on the sewer portion only, which is outlined in the chart above.

Sewer volume is billed at a flat rate, and usage is based on the amount of water used or the winter average. (Water use is measured in CCF or 100 Cubic Feet.)

2026 increases include:

Sewer Base Charge increase from $4.66 to $4.82
Sewer Volume Charge increase from $8.75 to $9.05
